About Kid’s First Childcare Center

A Secure, Welcoming Environment Where Children Feel Known, Valued, And Confident To Grow

Kid’s First has proudly served Layton families since 1997. As a family-owned center, we are deeply rooted in our community and committed to building lasting relationships with the families we serve.
We have grown intentionally over the years — strengthening our educational practices, investing in teacher development, and continuously refining our approach to early learning.

Our Mission

To honor childhood while intentionally preparing confident, capable learners for life.

Meet Our Dedicated Leaders

Kristin Guymon – Owner

Growing up around childcare and always valuing what childhood represents, I have been involved with Kid’s First since 1997.

Over the years, I’ve served as a teacher, manager, and director, gaining nearly three decades of hands-on experience and earning certifications, including my NAC credential.

The greatest compliment we receive is that each child is known by name, personality, and individuality.

Katie Martinez – Director

As a working mom, I understand how important it is to leave your child in the care of people you trust.

I hold a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, along with a background in psychology and child development, and have worked in childcare for over 20 years, gaining hands-on experience teaching children of all ages.

My passion is creating an environment where children feel known, families feel confident, and teachers feel supported.

Confidence Starts With Caring Teachers

Our team of experienced, trained teachers is dedicated to building meaningful relationships with your child and supporting their individual growth and development. Every member of staff commits to ongoing training, and some teachers hold or are actively working toward early childhood education credentials.

A Play-Based, Nature-Driven Approach

Our custom curriculum is designed based on children’s interests and Utah’s Early Learning Standards. Through playful discoveries in their classrooms and outdoors, your child builds a true love of learning.

Consistent Contact Keeps You In The Loop

Children thrive when their parents and early educators work in partnership. We welcome your questions and keep you updated every day with pictures and reports on your easy-to-use parent app.

A Community for the Whole Family

At Kid’s First, we believe parents are their child’s first and most important teachers. Families are an important part of our program, and we welcome their involvement in ways that feel meaningful to them. Those ways include:

An open-door policy

Drop in and spend time with your child in class. Join us for lunch, volunteer in the classroom, share a special skill or tradition, or lead a group experience about your job, hobby, or something your family loves.

Family engagement

Throughout the year, we offer opportunities for families to come together, have fun, build relationships, and get to know each other.

Support

We connect families with resources when they need them and maintain our community food pantry, where families are welcome to give what they can or take what they need—no questions asked.
